A minimum of a 3 star AusRAP rating is the target standard for the length of the Midland Highway. Road safety improvements have been integrated with a staged approach to capacity improvements. These include projects at specific sites and mass action treatments along the entire corridor. Works include alignment upgrades at identified crash black spots, upgrading of existing overtaking facilities to accommodate central median barrier, junction upgrades and other safety and capacity improvements along the corridor. Projects will be delivered over a 10 year period.
